We all get too many emails. I wanted to unsubscribe from part of the emails one company sends me. This cool screen appeared. When one option is deselected, it turns grey. If it is kept active, it stays green.

Cool but annoying buttonsThe interface is very slick, but the designers and user interface people made one mistake. This is not a standard checklist. It takes a small amount of extra mental energy to ask yourself whether you’ve subscribed or unsubscribed. If they had stayed with the normal “radio buttons” (empty boxes that have checks when they’re selected), they would have made the unsubscribe process slightly easier.

We’re all too busy to have little road bumps in our paths. Make things easier for  your customers, unless you have a really good reason to change things.

Part one explores a different angle.
