Planning is the first step toward getting a website that will actually meet your goals. Wireframes are quick skeleton views of each page of a website. They focus on the kinds of information displayed, the range of functions available and the relative priorities of the information and functions.

Wireframes can be done using several tools, but using paper and a pencil can often be the fastest and cheapest way to see how the website will work. We’ve done wireframes for several clients. It’s good to start with quick and dirty wireframes. They can be done much tighter after informational and visual directions are agreed upon. Or if the budget is small, we can skip to the production phase.

The basic principle of wireframes applies to other projects as well… be sure to map out your concept before you go too far. You may end up saving a lot of time and money.
